Amazing Views, Great Place

My fiancé and I stayed here with our dog. The views are absolutely gorgeous (the pictures online don't lie). The weather was a bit chilly when we visited (late March) but we took advantage of the wood stove. The outdoor temperature seemed to be about 10 degrees cooler at the property compared to the base near Crozet, which means we'll definitely be back when it starts getting hot this summer in DC! There are a few trails near and around the house as well which is nice. There is a vineyard at the base of the mountain, King Family Vineyards, which we will also visit on our next trip. Plenty to do at and near the property. The owner is also nice and easy to work with. We'll definitely be going back. - Bryan M., Washington, District of Columbia

Amazing House!

Four of us spent MLK weekend at the house and loved every minute of it. The house is uniquely built with lots of windows and decks. Kitchen was well stocked with the right amount of amenities as were the bed & bathrooms. The wood stove was also a plus for the cold and windy nights on the mountain. Owner/mgr was VERY responsive to my emails. Overall a great place to stay. We would definitely book this house again!

Wonderful stay

What a great way to spend a weekend. My wife, sister-in-law and her fiancee stayed at the Skyline Crest to do some hiking and explore the wineries and breweries in the area. Previous reviews described amazing views of the surrounding mountains and we were not disappointed. The wood stove was certainly a plus. The best way to drink a cup of coffee is with a fire burning in the stove, staring out over the mountains from the living room windows. I also can't say enough about how amazing the owner was. There was rain and fog expected the day we were supposed to arrive at the house so Dan sent me an email first thing in the morning to tell me he was heading to the house to make sure the roads were going to be OK for us to drive up. He got back in touch with me that afternoon to tell us everything looked to be fine and let us know an outdoor light was left on. This certainly came in handy as the fog was so thick you couldn't see more than 20 ft. in front of your vehicle at the top. It's little touches like this that ensure we'll be visiting the Skyline Crest again.

One of a kind place. Fantastic stay!

I could not have been happier with the choice my wife and I made in staying here for 4 nights during late Autumn 2014. The location and property by itself is remarkable. You are at the peak of a small mountain, with outstanding views for an entire 360 degrees - there is a 3rd story lookout which helps make the panorama even more impressive.

It's a very secluded, romantic, cozy location for any couples considering booking this (fireplace is a bonus). It's hard to imagine a better place to get away in Appalachia and leave the world behind for a few days. Add in the charm and restaurants of Charlottesville, the UVA campus, Monticello, and all of the natural surrounding area - it's very difficult to beat this spot.

We've been fortunate enough to travel quite a bit and virtually never repeat the same trip twice (too much to see), but it would be a life regret if I never make it back here.

The owner is a pleasure to deal with, and the property is very well maintained. - Mike S., Arlington VA

Perfect family getaway

My family and I (husband, 9 month old son and dog) truly enjoyed our stay at Skyline Crest. Skyline Crest is located in a one of a kind place (getting up that 5 mile gravel road to the top is a commitment!) that gives a feeling of solitude for a true getaway but you are not far from restaurants, vineyards, and other attractions. The house is great and very comfortable; it had everything we needed to relax and recharge. The views from the property and the roof decks are stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset! We had a great time hiking on the nearby Appalachian Trail and exploring the mountain as well as the town of Crozet. All in all, it was a fantastic weekend and perfect getaway from our daily routine. Thanks again to Dan and Erin for excellent service and comprehensive information about the house - and helpful maps!

Not just a stay, but an experience.

Stayed with my husband and another couple. Perfectly outfitted and comfortable home. Had everything we needed. Well-outfitted kitchen, ready-to-go wood burning fireplace, cozy décor.

It's a place of personality and beauty, not just an overnight stay but a place to be experienced. The view is more than can be photographed, and the house is crafted to show it off.

It is indeed up a mountain, no doubt about it, but to get a view like that you need the altitude. There is serious hiking, but even a stroll along the road is refreshing. A note, add in travel time for up/down the mountain. Have your wits about you, too. It's a gorgeous drive but it's tight and shared with other cars and cyclists. We did see the sites in the surrounding towns, but went down/up the mountain just the one time per day --- so bring your groceries on the way up.

The reservation company and the owner are spot-on responsive. The information they provide is extensive and clear. We had no concerns about how our reservation was treated or how we were respected as guests.

I'd love to go back. Have fun!

Amazing Mountain Retreat

This place is so amazing. My friends and I had the best time. The house comfortably sleeps four people, and could probably even fit a few more on the pull-out couch. My dog also had an amazing time. The views are incomparable and the trip up the mountain is breath-taking. We had 6 bear sightings and it was just incredible. The star-views at night were also amazing viewed from the roof. I would come here every weekend if I could!!

An Enchanted Mountaintop Experience

One of the most remarkable vacations my husband and I have ever experienced: sublime beauty and peace...and lots of wild animals!

Yes, it IS on a mountain top!

We stayed at Skyline Crest with our two dogs for three nights recently and loved it! The house is huge, modern has amazing windows/views/light from every room. It is ON TOP of a mountain (that is gated to begin with) so it is very secluded. We've stayed in several cabins in the area and none can beat the view here. The ability to go hiking right from the front door is a huge plus and you're just a few miles from tons of wineries and breweries. We had a great weekend there and wish is could have been longer. The house was clean, had plenty of tools for all the cooking, clean linens, and fire wood (and kindling) ready to go for the stove. The property manager and owner were great and provided all the information we needed before arrival. The weather up there is definitely different than whatever it may be in Crozet, but that's part of the fun. We had spring like weather one day, gale force winds howling one night and what seemed like a winter storm the day we left...meanwhile it was just drizzling rain in town. Oh, and the dogs loved it too...off leash and in heaven. A great, easy escape for those of us living in DC's insanity. We'll be back.

My Idea of Camping

My wife, myself and two kids stayed for a weekend. Place was very nice and the views were outstanding. We got lucky and had varried weather so we got to experience thunderstorms, rain, clouds sunshine etc. The views as clouds came through were really great.

The Wifi and DirecTV worked great. Kitchen was well stocked and you could watch the kids playing out on the mountain as you cooked - which was convenient. The couches in the living room were super comfortable and great for sleeping.

We did not do any serious hiking becuase we were pretty busy (in town for foxfield) but did spend time down in the woods for a while. We saw lots birds and deer.

Great place - Watch out for ticks if you are there - pulled a deer tick of my daughter and another one of my son in the two days they were out playing around. Remember to check yourselves and kids....
