Fabulous private mountain getaway!

I took my husband here for a three-day relaxing birthday weekend and we really enjoyed the comforts of home in this tastefully-rustic cabin. There is SO much space to move around and layabout. Two full decks, a front porch - the private hot tub deck on the back with mountain views was our favorite. It extends from a lovely master bedroom suite that suited us perfectly. We drove down through Mt. Airy and hiked Pilot Mountain (which is visible from the cabin) and had a great day seeing all that the area has to offer. The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking tools / utensils and it was nice having some necessities provided like toilet paper, soap, etc. We will definitely be returning to visit as soon as we get the chance. Thanks for the games, too! We definitely made the best use of all that was offered.

First time at Pilot's Perch

Three women wanted to get away from the stress of life in DC. We weren't disappointed. The pictures can't quite convey the beauty of the house. It's solidly built and extremely well maintained. Bedrooms are amply separated for privacy, and beds are very comfortable with nice quality linens. The hot tub and accompanying views are sublime. The fireplace kept us cozy in January, as we watched movies on plush couches with recline features. We brought food with the intent to stay in, and the well appointed kitchen made creating meals an easy endeavor. The stars at night were breathtaking, and watching the valley below made us feel like we were in an aerie. The next time we stay, we'll add a day or two because a weekend didn't feel long enough!

A Second Week-end at Pilot's Perch!

My wife and I enjoyed our relaxing stay at Pilot's Perch so much that we had to do it again. The home and view is just as we remembered; very well kept, clean, appointed, awesome. This time we took in breakfast at the Hillsville Diner and, yes, they serve the best pancakes you will ever eat. Otherwise, we stayed in to catch up on a movie or two and relax in the hot tub. The owners are great to work with. If you're looking to explore the area or simply get away for some private downtime, Pilot's Perch is likely where you'll want to be.

Simply amazing!

We rented the cabin to have some downtime and relax from our hectic lives, and I'll tell you what, that was just what we were able to do at Pilot's Perch. The cabin is amazing. The pictures really don't do the cabin justice. Right when you walk in you feel the comfy and coziness of the cabin. I really didn't want to leave the cabin at all. I love to cook and the kitchen really does have everything you will need. The beds are very soft and the pillows, fantastic!! The hot tub is phenomenal! And the view is breathtaking! I loved the upstairs bathroom with double sinks and huge jetted tub. I cannot think of one negative thing to say about the cabin. The cabin can be kid friendly as long as you bring a couple baby gates for the upstairs and downstairs. I have a one year old (He did not go with me this time) so I was sizing it up for kids, also.

I was a little hesitant to pay in full before getting to the cabin, but after speaking with Roxanne I was completely comfortable. Roxanne is such a sweetheart, and I am sure her husband is as well. Roxanne answered any questions that I had and they even have a welcome packet with so many suggestions on where to eat, what types of activities there are and the best part was how to work the hot tub. They cover everything you can think of in the packet.

We ventured out to Hillsville to the Food Lion a couple times and the people there are so nice. Really they were nice everywhere we went. They have anything that you could need food wise at Food Lion. From everyday meats, to Bison (Which was fantastic) to Lamb. We also made use out of the red box they have outside of Food Lion. We made a trip to Galax, my shopping hunger was getting the best of me. There are a couple of large antique shops (carrols consignment was where I found the best prices) and there is a large Carhartt store on the way to Galax. I wanted to go to Winston Salem, but we didn't want to drive an hour away, well, my boyfriend didn't want to drive an hour away.

This was the best trip we have taken together. We loved every second of it. If you are interested in this cabin, you must book it. You will not be let down. We are already looking forward to returning to Pilot's Perch.

What a wonderful, relaxing and just really an incredible place to stay!!

What a wonderful, relaxing and just really an incredible place to stay!! From the e-mail correspondence, to the check in process, the owners were just amazing. The cabin was clean, nicely decorated and you feel at home. Not like your in someone else's home. All the creature comforts are here for you, and ready when you arrive. The stay was a wonderful 4 days of relaxation and separation from our busy and hectic lives. As we get ready to leave tomorrow, we have already discussed coming back again in the summer.

Do yourself a favor and stay at Pilots Perch. You will not be disappoint!! Oh and btw...the neighbors, although a bit away from the cabin were very nice and very gracious with their help in finding our way around to do the things that we wanted to do while here.

Thanks again!! See you in the summer.

Wonderful, relaxing, and location convenient to so many of the places we love up there.

Greatly enjoyed a week's stay at Pilot's Perch. Directions to and how to get in were very helpful. Did have a bit of a challenge with the satellite TV system, but that seems to be an ongoing one with me in other places too. But we weren't there for TV! Fabulous view both morning and night, great large hot tub on the lower deck. Beautiful and comfortable interior, quiet except for the sounds of nature. Saw a lot of wildlife on the drive up and back each time we left the cabin, especially turkey and deer. While the web pictures are accurate, it actually looks even better in person. BUT, when you leave and drop your trash off at the Cana center, it is on the LEFT, not right as the directions say once you get on Eppworth Rd. We definitely plan on going back (to the cabin, not just the trash center).

Lovely Cabin. Wonderful stay.

My husband , myself and our children (12 and 10) spent 4 nights at Pilot's Perch as part of our 'American Adventure' ! It was exactly what we hoped for . We suspected it would be special when on the drive in we saw deer, groundhogs, wild turkeys and a rabbit ! The views were spectacular - inspite of the fact that we had cloud and rain. The cabin was spacious and well equipped - loved the beds and American quilts. The hot tub was very well used - at least twice a day - it was lovely to relax there whilst looking out at the view ! In the evening it was great to snuggle up on the recliners watching movies !

We enjoyed a drive down the Parkway to "Meadows of Dan" ( kids loved Nancy's Candy Factory) Also had a great trip to "Old Salem". We cycled down the "New River Trail" and enjoyed meals at "Rio Grande" at Hillsville.

Roxanne was extremely helpful and efficient in processing our booking - which was done from our home in U.K and most helpful during our stay- thank you!

I would thoroughly recommend a stay at Pilot's Perch !

Girls Getaway!

My college roommates and I rented Pilot's Perch for two nights for our annual summer get together. It was magical! I live only half an hour away from Fancy Gap, but the view of the mountains was breathtaking! We watched a lighting storm in the distance from the lower deck and saw two falling stars the first night. The birds soar at eye level and the breeze was heaven. We walked to the covered bridge and dripped our toes in the mountain stream. The cabin itself was beautifully decorated and had all we could have asked for. The hot tub is huge and very well kept. A wonderful time was had by all! We'll be back!!

Long-overdue family time in a perfect spot!

We rented Pilot's perch near the end of July for an extended weekend with our college-aged children and their partners--it was a rare opportunity to get the grown kids together, and we couldn't have picked a better location. We have stayed in many rental cabins, beach houses, etc., and I have to say that without a doubt, Pilot's Perch is the most well cared-for and cleanest place we've ever stayed. As for the cabin itself, the photos you see are very, very accurate representations of what we found. Everything was cozy and in great shape, all appliances worked, tv operation was easy, kitchen implements were sufficient--if you've stayed in rental places before, you'll appreciate these things. Hats off to the owners, who take great pride in the quality of their offering. Now, as for the view off the deck(s). Don't be deceived by the photos--BECAUSE IT'S EVEN BETTER THAN THAT. Mornings we watched the mist rise from the valleys, and sometimes even got to be "above the clouds" as they drifted below us. Nights were spectacular as well. You could just stare and stare, which is what we did. Though the cabin is in a "development", houses are arranged in such a way as to reinforce a real feeling of privacy. We were there for a quiet weekend, so can't comment much on outside attractions (other than to say that the burger joint we were looking forward to visiting in Hillsville is, sadly, closed now, or maybe it moved?), though we did go tubing, about an hour's drive away south of Galax. If you want peace, quiet, breathtaking views, all set in a charming, squeaky clean cabin that is every bit "as advertised" and more, this is the place. Thanks for sharing your wonderful place with us!

Great Vacation!

The pictures don't do this cabin justice. The view from this cabin during the daytime and nighttime are MAGICAL! This cabin is the best cabin we have ever stayed in. Sitting on the decks or sitting in the Jacuzzi, the view is priceless. You really can see the lights of Mt. Airy from this cabin at night. The hospitality that Roxanne and Clint provided us was above and beyond. We rode our motorcycles for this vacation and this cabins garage was perfect for keeping our bikes in. You are off the Blue Ridge Parkway and there is plenty to see no matter which direction you drive. The comfort of this cabins makes you feel like you are at home. Mt. Airy is a must to see and it has plenty of restaurants. There are several vineyards that are breathtaking. This will not be out only visit to Pilot's Perch. Hope to do a fall trip to see the beautiful fall foliage. Didn't want to leave! Thanks so much Roxanne and Clint for a great stay!
