Magical!

We loved our family getaway to this magical cottage! Lovely garden and cotttage provided a wonderful home base for our trip to Williamsburg and Jamestowne. The cottage is beautifully decorated. The kitchen is very well appointed. The bedrooms very comfortable. This wonderful beachside property on the river was a delightful place for my daughter to play.

Great stay in a quaint beach house cottage!

We loved our visit to Surry in this beautiful cottage/beach house. It was the perfect starting place to explore Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and The York battlefield. Super comfortable, clean and quiet. Such a nice vacation for our family.

The fully stocked kitchen has everything you need to whip up a gourmet dinner. Beautiful beach with kayaks and life vests provided. Poring over family photos, while brushing up on history in a sweet location!

I planned a week respite from the distractions of life for my sister and I to go through the trove of pictures and memorabilia bequeathed to us by parents downsizing. Views of the water seemed like a real plus. This was the perfect location to spend half of the day reminiscing and the other half venturing out to brush up on early American history at all of the sites and museums. The convenient ferry crossings made this a breeze.
Oh, and what a well-equipped kitchen and new appliances! My sis and I love to eat healthy and well, so we balanced our picnic lunches with more involved dinners that kept us fortified and satisfied. The linens and bath towels (thirstiest ever) gave a lux feel to the whole experience. The cottage is small, (we used the third bedroom as our closet/storage) but comfy and nice socializing area for small groups. Access to the dock and beach feels privileged and private.
I think you will also appreciate the marine theme; with its aqua/turquoise and lavender color scheme. ;-) Deena was tremendously responsive and offered involved, thoughtful answers to my various questions along the way
Bonus--Never imagined that I would be mesmerized by and enjoy the rhythm of the ferry-crossing viewing from the deck.

Relaxing vacation spot

Our recent stay was a fabulous experience! Our children (13, 5, 3) LOVED the cottage and the water front access. They played for hours in the sand and in the water. The atmosphere is very relaxed but just a short distance from many vacation highlights such as Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown. Deena was so easy to work with- and was able to help answer our many questions before and during our stay. The cottage itself was well maintained, very clean and cozy. I would recommend the cottage to anyone looking to visit this area- in fact will plan to book here again when we return in the future!

Great location, close but out of the way

This cute little cottage is a great location as a home base for visiting the many attractions and relaxing in between. The place is clean and convenient, well equipped. The beach, fire pit and kayak are also a huge plus. Deena was great to work with.

Prettiest Cottage Anywhere

5 of 5
This is the most comfortable, immaculate, well equipped and fabulous place we have ever stayed in, we absolutely loved our stay.We were traveling from the UK. It is small but it was never a problem (even with 2 teenage boys) and it added to the coziness of the inside and there is so much space outside the cottage. Deena is an amazing host who has thought of everything and was incredibly helpfull, we found it a great base for sightseeing and returning at night to view the sunset and watch the ferry was idyllic. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage and would love to return.

Hello Linda, Gordon, David and Michael. I am delighted that you enjoyed staying in my cottage on the James River in Surry, Virginia, and I feel honored that you selected my cottage for your first trip to America. I'm glad that you had everything you needed in the cottage. You are such a wonderful, happy family. I hope all of my guests are as nice and fun and easy as you all were. I miss seeing Gordon and the boys fishing every night. I am so glad that you enjoyed your trip to the Historic Triangle and that you found my cottage restful at the end of the day. You left the cottage in such great shape--no sand on the floor and everything in its place! Thank you. And thank you again for the wine and the lovely Mexican Petunia plant (my first one) with the purple blooms. I hope that you come back again soon.

Charming Cottage

We recently stayed at this charming beach cottage. We absolutely loved this house. This was the most immaculate & well equipped place I have ever stayed. It was comfortable, convenient, large enough to accommodate 4 guests . It is positioned just feets from the Ferry ( so convenient for us ). The front deck gives us a wonderful and serene view of the water. My husband & I could sit out there all day long and enjoy the peaceful view. We only had to walk out the front door to be on the beach. Deena, the home owner, was an amazing host. She thought, I will say, of everything to make our stay so enjoyable. My daughter & granddaughter were so in love with the place that every time we will go out, they were anxious to come back to the cottage. I honestly hated to leave. Best vacation in a long time. I would defenetily recommend this house.

Thank you Deena. You are the best.

It would be difficult to find a more delightful place to stay!

Family of five visiting 4 nights over Thanksgiving - age range 3 to 75 ...PERFECT!!! Just how we like it. Deena is quite a good property manager of her family cabin and we tried to respect the property which has been in her family since 1938. You will lack for nothing - she has thought of your every need. It is cozy, and it is charming. Deena had many suggest on where to eat and what to see and how to accomplish all with ease. Cash's final comment (that is the three year old) was "Tell Deena I loved the beach and she has good sand."

Final note to Deena - it was NOT my fault that we crossed over on the ferry upon arrival. Ended up on wrong side of James River and had to cross back over which was still a fun little journey. Front seat people refused to listen to the directions you had carefully given me.
