Excellent property! Highly recommended

This is a great mountain property with wonderful views of the valley. Our extended family of 14 stayed here for two days over a weekend. The house is a great size and we were able to spread out in both of the family living areas. The bedrooms are very nice and good sized. The room with the three bunk beds was huge and perfect for the "kids" that came with us (21 yo - 8 yo). Everything is very well kept up in both the interior and on the exterior. The house feels very updated. Our family enjoyed the large selection of games the owners keep on hand. We certainly recommend this property and look forward to staying again.

Overall - great house!

We rented this house for JMU Family weekend and had no problems traveling back and forth from JMU (@20 mins). We had beautiful mountain views at sunrise & sunset from the deck. House is spacious, very clean, and came as advertised. Owner is very responsive and ensures you have a good stay. The only 'complaint' we have is that we had 5 couples stay at the house and the bedroom and bathroom situation is not ideal for this. Each bathroom is located within a bedroom which means adults are walking into bedrooms to get to the bathroom (not good for middle of the night trips). The layout is perfect for multiple families with kids. The bunk room is huge and can hold at least 6 -- plus there is a separate living area downstairs where kids can hang out with TV, games, etc. Overall, we all really loved our stay at the Drake Lodge and would recommend it to anyone wanting to visit the area or has students at JMU and want to make it a little mini-vacation -- and avoid the Harrisonburg hotels.

The perfect house for our family gathering

The house was exactly as pictured and more. Having two living spaces was perfect for our 3 generation gathering. The active little boys loved the downstairs bunkroom and play area while the adults loved being able to gather around the large dining room table. The kitchen was well equipped and it was great to have the 4 bathrooms. The view from the mountaintop was spectacular. We took the lifts up and then had a lovely walk back down. All of us enjoyed Luray Cavern and Monticello with its special tour for families with children. The indoor section of the waterpark was especially appreciated when we had a day too rainy to hike. The house is made for families.

Drake Lodge - A winner

Drake Lodge fit the bill perfectly for an extended family of 12, including 6 kids, enjoying a week of reunion. The home is well-maintained and carefully overseen by an owner who communicates very effectively. The area is lovely and there is lots to do: historical sites, caves, a water park (expensive), zip lines, etc. This is a great place for a getaway.

Fun and Relaxing Girls Weekend in Massanutten!

We stayed at the Drake Lodge for a fun girls weekend and absolutely loved it! The house is beautiful and very spacious with amazing views! The layout of the house is perfect, especially the large and open living room/dining room area. We loved being out on the deck with a glass of wine just enjoying the view of the mountains. During our visit we took advantage of the many activities Massanutten has to offer. We had so much fun doing the canopy tour and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for some adventure. We also enjoyed a dinner out at Massanutten's newest restaurant, Campfire which serves good food for a good price. Finally, we ventured off the mountain to one of the local wineries, Cross Keys, which we highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a glass of wine with amazing scenery. Overall we had a wonderful weekend and hope to return in the future!

Wonderful Family Weekend!!

We stayed at The Drake Lodge for a long family weekend and the home is beautiful! It was comfortable, spacious, well equipped and has spectacular views of the mountains! We golfed, went to the water park, went to the local lavender farm, went hiking and relaxed on the beautiful deck! Fantastic place to watch the 4th of July fireworks!
We highly recommend The Drake Lodge and will definitely stay here again!

Very comfortable house with a great view

We stayed at Drake Lodge with our children and grandchildren. This was our first vacation with the entire family. Our children arrived before us and immediately sent text messages about how nice it was. Not long after we arrived we were greeted by a rainbow, a promising start to our trip. The house was very comfortable with plenty of room for the 10 of us. The grandchildren loved the bunk room so much our grandson wants a bunk bed now. The house was equipped with everything we needed for our stay and the view of the resort area and mountains was great. There is plenty to do within a short drive. The favorites of the grandchildren were the water park and Luray caverns. Overall it was a fun vacation and lived up to our expectations.

Beautiful stay at the Drake Lodge

Our family stayed at the Lodge for an extended week -end to attend a nephew's wedding. We enjoyed a beautiful view of the area from the spacious back deck. And appreciated the super clean, updated and spacious home. The kitchen is a cooks dream!! All neatly organized and modern. Loved having access to the fresh herbs for cooking- all for the price of watering them. The runners in our family loved the challenge of the resort hills, and the grandchildren loved the access to the beautiful pool area. All of this and more made our Drake Resort stay a great success for our family! We value family time as the best time so thank you for adding to our joys with a lovely place to stay. Indiana Guests

Amazing stay at the Drake Lodge

My family (9 people in total) stayed at the Drake Lodge for UVA's graduation weekend. The house was amazing -- impeccably clean and the views were breathtaking. Parking was easy. We cooked in the extremely well-equipped and newly updated kitchen on our first night and we were amazed at how organized the kitchen was. The furniture (beds, sectional, etc.) was very comfortable and the house is beautifully decorated. The 5 bedrooms and 4 full bathrooms allowed everyone to have plenty of space to spread out and relax, as well as come together and eat at the large dining table and relax on the living room sectional. We enjoyed evenings and mornings out on the deck, as well as walking around the beautiful Massnutten neighborhood (the walk down to the general store and Base Camp restaurant took about 20 minutes). The house was in the perfect location to get to Cross Keys Vineyard (20 minutes), downtown Harrisonburg (25 minutes), and Charlottesville (an hour). We only wish we could have stayed longer! Many thanks to the Drake family for letting us stay in their beautiful mountain home. We will be back!

Weekend Drake Lodge Visit

My family and I (11 people in total) stayed at the Drake Lodge for a long weekend and we could not have been more pleased with our stay! Everything was absolutely beautiful, and there was tons of room for all of us to eat, stay, and play!!! The Lodge was decorated beautifully and anything you think you may have forgotten at home was easily found! We will definitely be back!!!
