Escape to the top of the world, abandoning your stress to the flat-lands...after you arrive and realize the comfort of this yurt, you will wish to stay longer! We allow overnight stays but most guests wish for a longer visit.
It takes days to explore the New River Trail, The Blue Ridge Music Center, hiking all the great hikes along the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Blue grass Music festivals, local breweries, wineries, Chateau Morrisette, and more.
The yurt is less than ten miles from Wellness Pursuits, and they offer yoga and fitness classes in a rural mountain setting. The link is www.wellness-pursuits.com. There is also nearby tree climbing with Bob Wray. His link is www.blueridgetreeclimbing.com "As your altitude changes, so does your attitude". Bob also owns The Magic Tree Sanctuary nearby for a fun and relaxing experience.
We have so many fun things to do in the area, its a great experience. In a world that is not unfamiliar with the plagues of environmental pollution, our goal in the construction of this structure was to create a serene, picturesque retreat that prides itself in being eco-friendly; this was done specifically in an effort to preserve the natural beauty of the uncharted portions of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
During the construction process, we took every care to leave the natural surroundings largely untouched. The property, itself, boasts a pristine evergreen and hardwood forest that allows the guest to retire from the industrialized strains of daily life.
The interior of the yurt has been designed from primarily reclaimed wood. The counters have been hand designed from such wood, and sealed with a natural, plant-based thermoset resin. We further re-purposed the bathroom door from a retired barn door.
The hot tub will be clean and waiting for your arrival. You can drive right out the drive, onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have also constructed an outdoor fire-pit for use by our guests; the provided wood has been collected from fallen trees on the property.
Many of the exterior lights are solar powered. Water on the property is sourced from the Blue Ridge crystalline-rock aquifer, nearly 400 feet below the surface--this water is naturally filtered by the rock structure through which it flows. Because of the property's location - and because of its natural status - it is frequented by a variety of indigenous animals that call the Blue Ridge Mountains their home.
The area also boasts various hiking trails that will allow you to escape deep into nature. After a long hike, enjoy an evening of relaxation in the hot tub as you gaze across the Blue Ridge Mountains--enjoy views of Fisher Peak, Beamer Knob, Mitchell Knob, Harris Mountain, and many other notable summits of the area.
The yurt is a few minutes from the Blue Ridge Music Center, as well as several breweries and wineries. It is fifteen minutes from downtown Mt. Airy; visit to enjoy live music, and nostalgic "Mayberry" shops and eateries.
The hiking in the area is phenomenal or you can just sit on the deck and enjoy the mountain view. The yurt is located one mile from a public golf course. The fishing in the area is great: musky, walleye, and small mouth bass all populate the local watercourses.
If you are inside due to inclement t weather, the flat screen TV provides access to over fifty channels, and also has a DVD player. We have also included a Bose sound system that is compatible with your phone and laptop and a Victrola Record Player with a record collection.

Everything you need to have a great time
Stayed June, 2019
Everything so super nice and well kept. The view was incrediable. Will defiantly be coming back. The only reason im giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 was because the directions on the VRBO wrote from the owner was not very clear and you could hardly see the private road sign. We drove around lost for about 45 min. Other than that it was wonderful.

This yurt has every element needed for comfort, charm and functionality. Right off the Blueridge Parkway with a beautiful view of the mountains. Close proximity to Mt Airy which was why I came, to visit the nostalgia of “Mayberry”. But most of my stay was staying cozy inside listening to music either on the Victrola or from the diverse CD collection. Hot tub is perfect, made to hold two. Everything was very clean, with efficient use of the 300 sq ft of space and a spacious feel. Room to dance to the tunes!
Owners were easy to reach and responsive to any questions or needs I had. Thank you so much for the privilege of staying in your place. I would definitely return and recommend to others.
