WEEKLY DISCOUNT RATES ALL YEAR (7 nights). June, July and August must be rented between Saturday to Saturday (it can be rented for less than a week but must be between Saturdays). Also, since this is not listed in the payment options, we accept Zelle as well as checks.
Our waterfront beach cottage sits on a bluff overlooking the James River and Jamestown Island. The steps to the beach are shared with the cottage next door. You will have the privacy of a cottage and will be directly across the river from Historic Jamestowne and Williamsburg. You can see Historic Jamestowne from the cottage.
The James River here at the cottage is tidal water and is clean. The tide comes in and goes out very slowly, so it is great for children to play in. It is partly salty and partly freshwater. There is not a drop-off.
Directly across the river is Jamestown Island, the place of the first permanent English settlement in America. Our cottage has a beautiful view, a beach and the James River to play in, but close to Historic Jamestowne, Williamsburg, Yorktown, Busch Gardens and other sites that you are coming to visit. Even if the weather isn't perfect, you can sit on the enclosed porch and watch Eagles and Ospreys fish or tugboats going by.
You will have privacy here. There are no houses behind the cottage, just woods and fields. The cottage is down a 0.4 mile lane so there is no traffic noise.
The free car ferry belongs to the VA Department of Transportation and runs 24 hours a day. The cottage is 1 mile from the ferry dock. When landing at Jamestown, Williamsburg is 4 miles straight down the road (about 5 min.), and it takes about 15 minutes to get to Busch Gardens. Yorktown is a little beyond Williamsburg. The ferry dock on this side is one mile from the cottage.
The cottage has a smoke detectors, a carbon monoxide detector, and a fire extinguisher.

Beach chairs, beach umbrella, and beach towels.
Coffee maker (with filters, coffee, sugar, creamer), dinnerware, silverware, glassware, cookware, cooking utensils, paper plates, paper cups, paper towels, napkins, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, dish detergent, dish towels and cloths, Tide, dryer sheets and trash bags.
Hair dryer, towels, wash cloths, hand soap, toilet paper, and first aid kit.
In the backyard there is a gas grill ready for your barbecue.
The living area has YouTube TV and Amazon Prime.
All of the bedrooms are equipped with bed linens (beds made), extra blanket, clock, and flashlight.

The cottage is 1 mile from the ferry dock (takes about 3 minutes to get there). On this side of the river, there many historical sites such as Bacon's Castle, Smith's Fort, Chippoke's Plantation, etc. Smithfield is about 30 minutes away.

3. Cottage is rented Saturday to Saturday in June, July and August (weekly discounts). You do not have to book the whole week.
By reading and signing, the guest understands you hereby acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to the terms and conditions of this rental agreement. You also understand that you are responsible for payment of all deposits and charges as outlined in the agreement.
The cottage is limited to five (4) people, including children and day/overnight guests.
Limited to 2 vehicles.
A deposit of 50 percent of the total rental plus fees is due to book the cottage with the balance due 30 days prior to check-in. If booking occurs within 30 days of the check-in date, full payment is due at the time the reservation is made. Bookings are not confirmed until deposit or full payment is received.
Cancellation Policy: If Guest wishes to cancel his/her reservation, the amount paid will be refunded as follows:
100 % if cancelled 60 days prior to the Check-in Date
50 % if cancelled between 30 and 59 days prior to the Check-in Date No refund if cancelled fewer than 30 days prior to Check-In Date
This property is for family vacations only. We gladly rent to families or responsible adults over the age of 25 years old. There is a "No-Group" Policy, which includes but is not limited to the following: school spring break, prom, graduation; wedding receptions, etc. Absolutely no house parties, events, receptions, or kegs.
No smoking in the cottage.
Important:: No illegal substances are permitted on the property.
Inclement Weather: If there is a hurricane or other severe storm or inclement weather that is predicted to hit or hits the area of the rental cottage prior to or during the rental period, the rental cottage may not be available. Refunds will not be provided as a result of inclement weather or other natural or man-made disasters that render the cottage or the surrounding area unusable. Please see www.vacationprotection.com for information on travel insurance offered via the HomeAway, VRBO, etc. companies.
Access: Guest shall allow Homeowner access to the property for purposes of repair and inspection. Homeowner shall exercise this right of access in a reasonable manner.
Indemnification:
The Guest agrees to indemnify the owner for any damages to or loss from the rental house during the Guest’s rental term, normal wear and tear excluded. The Guest further agrees to indemnify and hold the owner (A.C. Traylor) harmless from any claim or liability for loss or damage arising from any claim for personal injury or damage or loss of property which is made, incurred or sustained by the Guest or other occupants or invitees of Guest, excepting if such damage or loss results directly from the willful misconduct or sole negligence of the owner. The owner (A.C. Traylor) is not responsible for any of the Guest’s or other occupant(s) valuables, cash or other property during the rental term.

Best Vacation Ever!!
This place was amazing. The house was super clean and well organized with essentials. Beds were very comfortable. The view is breathtaking. From swimming, kayaking, wildlife, laying out on the beach and shells the size of your hand it was the best time ever! My family and I can’t wait to come back.
