Description
The house is located on a quiet creek off of the Great Wicomico river just a few nautical miles and minutes away from the Chesapeake Bay and the Inter-Coastal waterway. Small fishing boats can be launched from the front shore. Larger boats may be launched from nearby marinas and boat landings. Provided on the property are a kayak and two stand-up paddle boards for exploring the area. Life jackets are provided also, but users assume all risks. Charter fishing is available in the area where your catch may be cleaned and iced. A fire-pit and grill are located outside in the yard.
This home is located on a private point of land with water on three sides. There are water views from all rooms in the home. The property includes 16 acres surrounded by rural farmland, water and woods. `Wildlife in the area include deer, ducks and bald eagles. Rivahhome is perfect for a quiet family retreat, romantic weekend or nature lovers adventure.
There are many shops, restaurants and boutiques in the town of Kilmarnock which is just minutes away. Also there are many seasonal events that are located in the area. Several golf courses and wineries are local.
There are numerous day trips within an hours distance. These include Busch Gardens and Water Country, the Historic Triangle of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown, and an abundance historical sites. The birthplace of George Washington in Westmoreland County is one of the many sites.
Owners are available by text or phone 24/7. There is also a property management team in the area that we will rely on for some maintenance issues. Of course there are emergency (911) services in the area and Rappahannock General Hospital (Bon Secours affiliate) in Kilmarnock and a CVS Pharmacy.

Perfect, quiet getaway for three generations under one roof!

Mary and Larry’s house was by far the most comfortable and charming VRBO home we have ever stayed in. The views are breathtaking. The accommodations are perfect for extended family. My mother-in-law was very content in her downstairs master suite. Our college aged sons had their own bedrooms and family room upstairs. My husband and I enjoyed the view from our upstairs master bedroom. We all commented on how comfortable the beds were. We slept like babies!
We spent our days kayaking, paddle boarding, walking country roads, and cooking in the wonderful kitchen. Every night we watched the sun dip down into the “rivah.” We took some of the most spectacular sunset photos ever.
Kilmarnock is only a fifteen minute drive. There are plenty of grocery stores to get provisions.
In short, we loved staying here and hope to rent from Mary and Larry again.
