During this time, we are all a little uncertain of where we go and what we do, but one thing is for sure, we are tired of staying home. Bernard's Landing is a small resort on Smith Mountain Lake, and families have been coming here for years and just staying together, fishing, floating in the lake, boating, kayaking, playing Pickle ball or tennis. Smith Mountain Lake was written about in the September 2020 issue of Readers Digest about being a great place to go to social distance and enjoy your life. Bernard's Landing is unique because it is at the end of a state road, and all of it is on a Peninsula, located at the widest part of the lake. The view is a wide expanse of sparkling water with the backdrop of the seven mile long Smith Mountain. The king bedroom on the main level. There is a queen in the loft, Bunk Beds in lake level. It has an over sized deck and screened in porch. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a grill. Located right across the from the Clubhouse with a large pool, baby pool, basketball court, racquetball, pickle ball and tennis courts. It is an easy walk to the beach. Your dock is also just steps away if you want to bring a boat or rent one. There is a place to launch your boat here. Bernies Store on site for afternoon ice cream and shopping The store is open May through Oct. 15th Family Get Togethers!: There are other rental homes nearby if you need more space, or you are planning a family renunion. There is no trash service here, so please do not leave any trash bags in the hallways or breezeways. Please locate the dumpster (Trash) location on your map & dispose of it there. You have 2 parking spaces in the parking lot. In #243, your spaces are the ones closest to the road. There are overflow spaces nearby. Also, do not hang wet towels on your decks. Dry them in the dryer which is provided in your rental unit. Due to Fire & Safety Rules, please do not leave any items in hallways, breezeways or entrances of your unit(s). This is a rule for all of Bernard’s Landing Residents, their guests & Renters to follow. Any items that you bring (bikes, grills, fishing rods, tackle boxes, toys, skateboards, flotation devices, chairs, etc.) must be stored inside your unit or neatly on the back deck(s) of your units. Bernard’s Landing Security monitors these areas to assure these rules are followed. Many of your neighbors are full time residents here, so if you are entertaining past 11 pm, please go inside and party on…….!
Checking Out: Promptly at 10:30 a.m. (11:30 a.m. - if you bring your own linens). Although this is a vacation home for you, please keep in mind that it does have a homeowner who has been kind enough to share it with you. Please treat their home as you would want someone to treat yours.
Take all trash with you when you leave. Dispose of it on your way out.
Please leave the stovetop, oven and grill as clean as possible for the next guests.
If you spill anything on the carpet/rugs, please try to remove the spill, or call us so we can attempt to clean it.
Run the dishwasher, as well as empty the refrigerator & freezer of all food..
Wipe off counters and tables. Use Windex provided for glass top tables.
Remember to take your phone, ipads & other chargers..
Look under sofas & beds for your personal items/clothes. Also check the dryer as well. We are not responsible for items left behind.
Please call (540)420-0584 (Carol), and we will send in the cleaning crew. Leave white Pool Pass(es) on the kitchen counter in your unit. Place keys in the outside drop box at the office. Also, please call if you have any issues or concerns as they arise so we can resolve them as quickly as possible. We want your stay to be a great one!
If you ordered our linen service, please take sheets & pillow cases off the beds, leave them along with all towels, washcloths, hand towels, dish cloths & dish towels in a neat pile inside near the entrance foyer/area door of your unit. (cont. on back) PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE COMFORTERS, SHAMS or OTHER BEDDING FROM BEDS, ONLY SHEETS & PILLOW CASE
Do not use bleach when washing clothes here, whites may turn brown.

Amazing family vacation at Bernard's Landing
We just returned from our family vacation at Bernard's Landing and can't wait to go back! The manager, Carol assisted us with booking our trip and went above and beyond the whole week. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. Our townhouse was spacious and very clean with an amazing view. Our four children had so much fun tubing, jet skiing, and fishing for the first time. We had a great time relaxing while overlooking the beautiful lake. We enjoyed a day of hiking and swimming at Smith Mountain. We even were invited to trivia night and enjoyed the friendly families who live and vacation here. We took a boat ride to Bridgewater where we had dinner and played mini golf before returning to the marina. Our 4 teenagers told us it was their favorite vacation! We can't thank Carol and her husband for their wonderful hospitality.

Relaxing
Great location. End unit has side door for easy access to the docks. The kids enjoyed hanging out on the docks, fishing, swimming and meeting new friends. Bernard's Landing has two pools and 6 tennis courts which we used often and enjoyed. Great community to run or walk with views of the water everywhere you turn! It is a condo so there are people above and below this unit. But they were only there on the weekends so it was quiet during the week. The condo is a perfect size for a family of 4 or 5. The neighbors across the hall (who are the rental company) showed us what southern hospitality means! We felt at home from the minute we arrived.
If you plan on boating most of the time you are here, this is a great location. Bernard's Landing is about a 15 minute drive or 20 minute boat ride to Bridgewater Plaza which seems to be the main attraction of this part of the lake.The pizza place at Bridgewater Plaza is awful. The pizza is always burnt. That is the way they make it. We heard other tables complaining about it while we were eating there! Joe's pizza has a pretty good dinner buffet. The Crazy Horse (restaurant is called Mexico Viejo) was pretty good Mexican food. The best meal we had while we were there was at the Tuscan Tavern. Excellent Itlaian food. It is a small place so the wait was kind of long. For groceries, I preferred the Kroger over the Food Lion. Better produce, cleaner, more selection.
And lastly I need to mention Blackwater Boat Company. It is located right next to Bridgewater Marina. My husband accidentally turned into Blackwater when he was going to Bridgewater Marina. It turned out to be less expensive. It is smaller, though, so there are less boats to choose from. The boat we were renting was broken. Max and the whole crew there bent over backwards to get it fixed and make us happy. Specifically, to make our daughter happy so she could be on the boat for her birthday!
