Hello from Bill and Stephanie Talbot. Three years ago we built our dream home, Whispering Oaks, in the Shenandoah Mountains. Having traveled extensively for the military, we now teach at a local community college and are avid hikers. We love our community and the outdoors so much we wanted to share it with others. We are now proud to offer Whispering Winds for families and friends to gather in the mountains to revel in the starlit skies, to enjoy the River, the hiking, the farm markets, the quaint country festivals and especially to relax and get away from it all. It is our hope that you come to Whispering Winds as guests and leave as friends.

There are not enough words to describe this amazing home. From the umbrellas and flashlights at the front door to the well equipped and organized kitchen, the owners have thought of everything you might need to enjoy your stay. Gorgeous views from every room, beautifully decorated, extremely clean, comfortable bedding this quiet, secluded home will give you the R & R that you need. I have stayed in numerous mountain homes that advertise "spectacular views" but Whispering Winds delivers!

My boyfriend and I rented this house for the weekend to celebrate my birthday. I haven't been to this area since I was a little girl. I was BEYOND impressed. The house itself is beautiful! The VIEWS are breath taking! Something that stood out to me about this rental was the owners Bill and Stephanie taking the time to make sure everything was perfect and that we were satisfied. There were little things here and there that they furnished at the house that was very thoughtful that I normally have to bring with me or buy when we vacation. Our phones and internet worked perfectly the whole time. The privacy was the best part! No ... wait ... the view was the best part! Every room in the house had an amazing view! I can't wait to come back!

Two harried moms seeking a quiet and calm weekend escaped to this lovely home on our first VRBO trip. Unsure what to expect, we hit the jackpot with this property! Located about midway between Front Royal and Luray, it took just 90 minutes of easy driving from the NVa DC suburbs. Our bedrooms were large and comfy with luxurious baths and pretty views. Each had deck access. The open concept main living area is just gorgeous! Especially the live edge counters! We cooked in and the kitchen had everything we needed. We explored the state park nearby and enjoyed a snowstorm on our first night. Fireplace got lots of use as the snow piled up. Owners were really helpful and welcoming — and we highly recommend this house for others. Seems like it would be perfect for two couples to share and the lower level bed and bath is an extra bonus if kids came along. We’d love to return during another season!

This is a beautiful and brand new home. The views from every room are spectacular. The kitchen is really nice and stocked with everything you could need. The location is really cool with convenient access to lots of hiking trails (and the house is full of annotated trail maps, guides, etc). The owners, Bill and Stephanie, came over to greet us and give us a tour when we arrived. They are clearly very committed to making sure any renters have a good experience. The location is pretty far from restaurants/grocery store, but for us that was a positive. Can’t wait to come back in the summer and float down the river.

We spent the week of Thanksgiving at Whispering Winds with our adult children and their spouses. This is an annual event, either Christmas or Thanksgiving, so we know the ropes. The views are breathtaking from every room. Having a living area along with a video/game room downstairs gave us all plenty of space. The kitchen has top of the line appliances and all the gadgets needed to prepare a Thanksgiving feast. The bedrooms are spacious, have a view and comfortable mattresses with plenty of blankets. With no light pollution the stars filled the sky so our evenings were spent on the deck star gazing. We hiked a trail close by, went to a great little flea market in Front Royal, and visited Skyline Caverns. Side note Apple House has delicious doughnuts!
