Cape Cottage is located in 'Holiday Hills', near the Virginia Dare Marina and close to the State Park. This is the best location on the lake with no steps to the dock. The water right off the dock is perfect for swimming, boating and all water sports. Great for the entire family, this cottage is a favorite with kids who love the large water trampoline, teens love the location on the lake for water sports and families love the beach volleyball court. Fisherman find our cove to be the lake's best for morning fishing.
The great dock is furnished with lounge chairs and an umbrella table and chairs. A canoe and kayaks are available for your use.
The house is located mid-way between the Smith Mountain Lake Dam and Bridgewater Plaza, between markers R-20 and R-22.
The cottage itself is fresh, clean and newly decorated with designer touches in every room. Sanitized linens and towels are provided for each rental (In-season only). Beautiful hardwood floors greet you upon walking in to the open space great room. On the main level is an open kitchen w/breakfast bar, great room w/Cable TV, dining room, Master Bedroom and Master Bath. Brand new beautiful en-suite Huge Master Bath with walk-in shower! Sliding doors from the great room and Master Bedroom open onto a beautiful sunporch that overlooks the lake. Upstairs are 2 more bedrooms and a rec. room with sleep sofas, shuffleboard, slot machine and another Cable TV.

Cheryl and Steve Wilhide of Ellicott City, Maryland found that Smith Mountain Lake was the perfect vacation spot. Friends of ours at the lake convinced us to look at this house & property and we were sold! We wanted a place we could vacation with our family and share our house with others as well.
Cape Cottage is located on a quiet cove, near shopping, gas, marinas and other lake conveniences. We are in a deep water cove, meaning that we can always navigate our boat in and out, even if the lake level is low. Yet, we are in a NO WAKE cove, which assures that our children can swim safely right off the dock.
What makes this cottage unique
Location! On the lake, we are halfway in between the lake's 2 major attractions...Bridgewater Plaza & The Dam.
Also, a very short boat ride to the VA Dare Marina and the State Park.
On land, we are super close to a great convenience store and 15 minutes from Food Lion & other shops.
Fire Pit! Sitting around the firepit at night, making s'mores and gazing at the stars...can't be beat!
Great Dock! Plenty of room for all...
Trampoline! This is our big attraction. It's a real water tramp (not a blow up tube) and its exclusively for our guests
Sunporch! Lots of space to hang out, eat meals, play games while looking right at the lake
Gentle Lot! If you're familiar with SML, you know that so many properties sit up on hills high above the lake.
Not us! You can walk out our front door and around to the lake without one single step! Very rare!

Smith Mountain Lake is located near Roanoke, Virginia. Nearby, there are several golf courses, restaurants, shopping, miniature golf, marinas, vineyards, etc. This house is ideally located in 'Holiday Hills', and sits right on the water, in a quiet cove. Our lake location is between R20 and R22. The water at the dock is perfect for swimming, boating and all other water sports.

Great Family Vacation
My son and his family rented this great cottage for July 4th week. My husband and I visited a few days then went home and they had 2 more visitors take our place. Awesome place! Awesome location! Not to far to walk to the water for older folks. Grampa fished off the pier with the grandchildren. We were able to use canoe, paddle board, and kayaks. The trampoline was awesome! We watched our kids and other kids in the area jump and play off of it. The house was clean and spacious. Food Lion was close by, a couple of good restaurants, a Llama farm and the National D-Day Memorial was the best I've seen. It was a great time for all!

Perfect getaway
Our first time here but hopefully not our last. My family loved this vacation and this home. It is well taken care of, well loved and has everything you need to make it feel like home. The only thing I missed was my dog but I understand why no pets allowed.

We love the house and the location. There is everything you need to enjoy your days at the lake. Everyone loved the trampoline, especially the kids. The owners are wonderful and always there to help you if you have any questions.

The PERFECT WEEK at SML!
Our family had a wonderful week at Cape Cottage. Great swimming off the dock and great location-less than 5 minutes to boat launch at State Park, gas for boat even closer at the Virginia Dare Marina and only 10 minutes to Food Lion! The house was decorated very nicely and very clean and well maintained. I can't think of a thing we needed that wasn't provided. Lots of games and good DVD's and the sand volleyball court, water trampoline and horseshoe pit added even more fun. We will be back!!

Amazing Cottage and Location
This property, the cottage, and location were beyond my families expectations. The description is spot-on. The cottage and location was very accommodating! It is very clean, and beautifully maintained. The bedrooms are roomy, and the beds of very comfortable. The bathrooms are upscale, with tile and glass, and a walk-in handicap accessible master bath shower. My mother is wheelchair bound and we had zero problems. The screened in porch over-looking the water is absolutely fantastic. Lots of tables to accommodate family meal times. The owners are amazing, accommodating and provided excellent service. The property is about 40 - 45 min. from Lynchburg area. I would recommend this property to anyone, I can't wait to go back!!!

Loved it----again!
This was our second stay at Cape Cottage and we are repeat customers for a reason - it is a perfect place for a lake vacation. The location is ideal for letting the kids swim off the dock and play on the water trampoline because it is not a high traffic area. The enclosed sunroom/deck was a great place for the kids to entertain themselves during rainy times.
This year besides boating, tubing, and swimming, we went blueberry picking. There is a farm very close to Cape Cottage where you can pick your own. They don't use pesticides so you don't have to worry about tasting while you pick. If you like wineries, don't miss Hickory Hills, White Rock, and Ramulose Ridge. Good wines, nice people, and beautiful scenery.
We would recommend Cape Cottage to anyone looking to stay at Smith Mountain Lake. The house is comfortable and clean, the kitchen well equipped, and the grounds well maintained. The owners could not be more accommodating and responsive to your needs. We look forward to many more stays at Cape Cottage!

Outstanding Property
This wonderful home exceeded our expectations even beyond the description and pictures on the website. Everything is welcoming in the home along with very comfortable furnishings. Everything is like new, very clean and well maintained. The water surrounding the dock is deep and very easy for docking your boat. The owners are great folks and very helpful and available if needed. We did have a couple of questions upon arrival and they were readily available to take our call and assist us with our questions. Our stay was only 3 nights and that is our only regret. We will definitely be coming back to Cape Cottage only the next time our stay will be for at least a week.
