Eagle's View, our 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath waterfront house faces the Assateague Channel with a stunning view of Assateague Island, the gorgeous Assateague Lighthouse and wildlife refuge. There are three levels of waterfront outdoor living with our private lighted dock, screened porch, open-air deck and third floor intimate balcony. Adirondack chairs and dining table sets provide plenty of seating for your delicious fresh seafood feasts; a glider on the dock for relaxing and dreaming; a steel-framed hammock on the screened porch is ideal for reading and snoozing! The bright and spacious great room with soaring ceiling overlooks the water and marshes, with the refuge and lighthouse as a backdrop. Two queen master bedroom suites make the home perfect for multi-generational guests. The third floor loft (with water view) is a wonderful respite for kids with their own TV, VCR and DVD library plus board games and puzzles. From the loft a hallway leads to two more bedrooms (two twins in each) and a large shared bath. The nautically-themed bedroom has terrific water views down the Channel to the Ocean Inlet. A dramatic catwalk from the loft leads you to a waterfront balcony where you will enjoy the spectacular view.
The kitchen is fully equipped to provide for all cooking needs with everything from coffee bean grinder, ice cream maker, Kitchenaid mixer to stainless steel crab steamer. We also provide crabbing equipment. The laundry with front-loading washer and dryer is conveniently located near the master bedrooms. There is a powder room off the great room. Master bedrooms have TVs; 2 flat screen TVs are also in the sitting rooms. WIFI throughout. We enjoy watching the wild ponies grazing below the lighthouse, as well as star-gazing and bird-watching, so we provide our guests with the use of our scope.
Relax on the glider on our dock and gaze at the lighthouse, or lose yourself in a good book! Our deck seats 10 to 12 for great seafood dinners off the gas grill, out of the crab steamer or carried out from the many great seafood eateries. Our plentiful video/DVD library provides hours of movie viewing while snuggled up with loved ones on the two couches in the great room. Greet the mornings while watching the sunrise over Assateague Island; you will see and hear the marshes come alive with marsh birds, herons, egrets, turtles, etc. Glimpse the occasional bald eagle soaring overhead, on the way to his/her nest on Assateague. Photograph wading birds and water fowl right from our deck. Vacations at Eagle's View in spring and fall provide the opportunity to view many more species of birds as they travel on the Atlantic Migratory Flyway over Assateague and Chincoteague. When the snow geese fly overhead in late fall, it will take your breath away! End your day with a late evening glass of wine on the deck or balcony and listen for the occasional owl hooting, whippoorwill call or pony whinnying across the Channel. Be mesmerized by the sound of the crashing surf on the Atlantic beachfront!
We have decorated Eagle's View with art from local artists, our photographs, decoys, nautical maps and real antique anchors, to add to the seaside feeling. Our collection of antiques includes oyster plates, faux scrimshaw, shells, decoys and nautical memorabilia. The furnishings are high-quality but comfortable and inviting, making our guests feel welcomed and relaxed in a bright and airy setting.
The quiet location on Little Piney Island, on the Eastside of Chincoteague Island is private yet not remote. We are close to everything! Bike to Main Street or Maddox Blvd. for shops, restaurants, the Island Creamery, the Sea Star Cafe for great sandwiches, carry-out food shops, miniature golf, bumper boats, etc., or to visit the two museums on the way to Assateague. There are no through streets and no commerce on our little island-neighborhood, so there is safe biking for little ones and walking for all. The almost constant ocean breeze is a refreshing delight which really deters the mosquitos. This Eastside location is ideal to access:

About Karen Lowe
We live in the heart of Hunt Country in Middleburg, Virginia, on our small farm where we raise Christmas trees, herbs, horses and cows. We love these Blue Ridge Mountains but we also love the ocean and this unique island. Rick is a Realtor, with a Middleburg brokerage specializing in rural properties here in Loudoun County. Karen runs her small gourmet food company from the farm. Together we raise Christmas trees and open our farm to customers who come back year after year for hayrides, hiking on the farm and cutting down their Christmas trees. We also run a vacation guest cottage on our farm called The Hunt Box which is filled with antiques. We've always had horses for our children who showed in the Hunter/Jumper circuit; now our grandchildren are learning to ride as well. We love to relax and read, besides kayaking, antiquing, photography, travel, birdwatching and gardening. We are active in local environmental groups.
Karen Lowe purchased this house in 2001
Why Karen Lowe chose Chincoteague Island
We vacationed here with our children for years and fell in love with the island! It is quiet, natural and family oriented, unlike many other beach resort areas. We love the educational opportunities and programs that are provided on Assateague, as well as the natural beachfront, wildlife refuge and all the hiking and biking trails. We love to kayak in such a natural setting. We have enjoyed meeting many talented artists and photographers on the island, as well as interesting shop owners. We find it a great source for the enjoyment of fresh seafood. Our children grew up reading 'Misty of Chincoteague' so we enjoy coming down to watch the Saltwater Cowboys in the Spring and Fall Pony Roundups as well as the Annual Pony Roundup, Pony Swim and Auction. The Volunteer Fire Department puts on a great carnival every July, which is great fun!
What makes this house unique
Incredible 180 degree waterview! The private dock, deck, screened porch and third floor balcony provide hours of relaxation and wildlife viewing. Crabbing from our dock provides a great dinner. We appreciate that Little Piney Island has no commerce and no through traffic, so it remains quiet, yet is convenient to everything. We love to kayak through the marshes and over to Assateague Island, and our dock is perfect for it. Star-gazing from the deck in this area with so little light pollution is excellent. Relaxing on the deck or balcony in the evening and hearing the Atlantic Ocean waves crashing on the beach on Assateague is so peaceful and rejuvenating.

Very well appointed house that is organized, spacious, airy, and relaxed. There is space for everyone and things to do for everyone in the family. We all had a fabulous time staying at this house and of course a deliriously wonderful time on Chincoteague and Assateague. The perfect beach, bike, kayak, fishing, crabbing, bird watching vacation for the whole family.

A perfect home for our get-away to Chincoteague. Plenty of room for 4 adult couples; kitchen was well stocked and clean. We would love to come back again - the owner was accessible and replied to all of our questions promptly. No complaints! Thank you for having us.

We are back from our vacation. Eagles view is perfect!!! The house is beautiful, the views from the deck amazing , even good crabbing. Our family had a great time and we couldn't be happier. Thank you for making our family trip wonderful

The house was very clean and comfortable. The sun rises over the marsh which affords views of abundant wildlife. The owner graciously treated us to an ice cream cake which we enjoyed for several evenings.
The rental agent was most accommodating from our initial contact to the end, even bringing towels to us when the sliding glass door started leaking from the onslaught of heavy wind and rain from a strong storm.
Thank you, Ms. Lowe and Stephanie!

The property was even better than the pics. The view from the deck was lovely, weather was perfect. Karen, the owner called to suggest a few places to eat & to tell of her favorite place to watch the water at night. She also had a yummy ice cream cake waiting for us at The Island Creamery. We’ve rented houses many years on Chincoteague & Eagle View was the BEST!

We stayed at Eagle's View for Columbus Day weekend. The house itself was so incredibly comfortable, and the deck with access to the marsh and the channel was a hit for my whole family. We rented kayaks and paddle boards, and we went crabbing right on the dock. The view of the lighthouse is tremendous. And we actually did see 2 gorgeous eagles from the kayaks!
Stayed October, 2018
This is a little piece of heaven. The location could not be better offering total convenience to everything on the island, yet tucked away in a very quiet spot
The view of the lighthouse and the canals is so gorgeous and peaceful
We love the ability to paddle board, canoe and kyak right from the dock
as well as crab for those that are brave enough to handle them
The house is very warm and welcoming and very well equipped & maintained
We have been returning for many years and literally have watched our grandchildren grow up there. They count the days until they return
A great choice for a fabulous family vacation
