Eureka! is the PREMIER vacation home on Chincoteague. Period. 'Spectacular' and 'Fantastic' are the words that come to mind when you consider the design of the house and its location. Our aim is that each guest also uses those words to describe their entire vacation experience.
The siting of this house is unique: You are above the 'Deep Hole' at the end of Deep Hole Creek, overlooking Oyster Bay, Little Oyster Bay, Assateague Bay with vast unobstructed natural water views.
Summer rentals are full weeks only, Saturday to Saturday.

With one bathroom designed to be handicapped accessible, we are very accommodating for people in wheelchairs or who have a hard time with stairs.
The handicapped bathroom (in one of the king bedrooms) has a fully tiled floor with continuous access so a wheelchair can easily be moved into the shower area. There are also six hand grips in essential spots.
The elevator has the following dimensions:
1). The opening in the elevator door when the accordion door is fully open: 33 inches
2). The depth of the elevator cab- 41 inches
3). The width of the elevator cab- 42 1/2 inches

On the first level, with 9' ceilings, there are FOUR bedrooms, each with its own bath, and each with its own private balcony. All have water views. Two have water views in two directions. ONE Bedroom, designed for kids, has 4 bunk beds (3 twin, 1 full) but could handle single adults if needed.
THREE BEDROOMS have KING beds. Each of the king bedrooms has custom tiled showers. One is handicapped accessible, another has a marble vanity, the third has a custom glass vanity.
Media Room: a full size Sleep Sofa.

No other house on Chincoteague can legally accommodate nearly as many people.
Fantastic for Large Family Reunions: When rented in conjunction with 2 neighboring houses, 35 people can be accommodated on site. Ask for details!
Large groups hosted (in conjunction with adjacent rental houses) include weddings, corporate retreats, a yoga weekend, a hunting retreat, and a quilter's bee.
Over 100 feet of frontage on Deep Hole Creek -- the pictures do not do it justice! (Well, the video comes closer!)
The 2nd floor deck offers the most sweeping & spectacular views from any house in Chincoteague...
At ground level, there are expansive wood decks, and a long bulkhead for crabbing and tying up boats and plenty of sun or shade (with seating and dining areas) depending on your preference. Hammocks. Plus several shaded picnic table and seating areas.
And a floating dock that makes water access even easier! The floating dock is shared with Epiphany (a neighboring house), as are the water toys, which include a Canoe and two 2-person Kayaks.
There is an open breezeway deck with stairs down to the dock area as well as indoor stairs.
On the second floor, you enter directly into a large Great Room and Kitchen with cathedral ceilings, bay windows, picture windows, two large decks (one with the wide-angle view and full sun; the other covered with an outdoor grill); both have dining areas.
The kitchen is simply fabulous: Look at the photos, and read the details below.
There is also a cozy media room with a 42' flat screen TV and a full size sleep sofa. The 2nd floor bath is next door, so using this room for sleeping is attractive. Enjoy our large library of books. Many guests have commented on how much they appreciate our large collection of board games.
Broadband Internet/Wi-Fi. Yes.
Two decks open off the 2nd floor great room. One is the open deck with the wide angle views, the other is the covered breezeway deck, still with great views, but also with the gas grill. Both decks have dining tables.
Guest House, First Floor Suite (First floor of small house): Across the breezeway (cedar-shingled exterior, radial, almost two story window wall, on the left in the aerial photo). All on the main floor, the living area has sweeping water views through the stunning curved window wall. The master bedroom (king bed), boasts a LUXURIOUS bathroom with a TILED two-person shower with body jets. THERE IS a WONDERFULLY private corner WATERFRONT balcony looking south. (There are no cooking facilities in the Suite.)
The "Primary" (used to be called "Master") suite in the guest house is an ideal choice for the special couple... whether you are planning a Chincoteague Wedding, a Golden Anniversary, or anything in between. Email for more details..
The 2nd floor of the Guest House has two additional rooms: One is right over the creek with the best view of all, with a sleep sofa. This is the best room on a mid-winter sunny afternoon. The other has two twin beds. Both rooms share a bath. Use of these rooms increases the capacity of the house to 18.
Extensive ground level wooden decks all along the bulkhead, hammocks, lots of deck furniture provide many spaces for relaxation.
The ladder down the side of the bulkhead to the floating dock makes boating and swimming easier.
NOTES: if you bring small children the waterside dock areas will require you to exercise constant vigilance over them. The upper decks offer more enclosed outdoor areas. Some people with small children choose not to use this house for that reason. We understand, and hope you will return when the kids are a bit older.
All rentals include bed- Linens (Sheets, pillowcases). Please bring your own towels (bath, hand, floor, beach)

Our family has owned this place since I was a kid. For years, it was a dilapidated, but incredibly charming ancient (19th century) clam house, right on the water, and during storms, under water. I remember playing in the water as a kid, as our kids (one pictured in canoe) will too.
The clam house disappeared 10 years ago, and Eureka! was completed in 2009.

We really enjoyed our stay on Deep Hole Creek. The view is amazing and the house is spacious and clean. We loved the huge beautiful kitchen and the numerous bed and bathrooms.

We loved our stay in this lovely peaceful home! This was our first trip to Chincoteague island and Eureka! What a wonder home with beautiful views of the water to celebrate our friends 50th Birthday. We loved being able to fish and swim right of the docks, and having access to the water sport equipment or just hanging out on the deck to take in the beautiful scenery. This is such an amazing side of the island within walking distance to a great seafood takeout (loved the shrimp and oysters!!), a wonderful bakery as well as the shops. Thank you so much for offering your home as a vacation rental! It provided instant vacation for us. We can’t wait to come back! Now we just need warmer weather!

We traveled with 4 separate families and were looking to getaway for the first time during Covid. It was the perfect property for our large group - hard to find in Chincoteague. The property was very well equipped and all the rooms were comfortable.
We had a fairly major snafu with the air conditioning not working in the guest house for 2 nights which was very rough for the 5 folks staying there - we had to sort of double up in the main house which was pretty uncomfortable for all involved but the owners did respond right away, unfortunately a part had to be ordered so it couldn't be fixed in one day.
The dock and location was great, we used all the water toys daily. We rarely went out (except to the beach daily) and there was still plenty to do at the house all week. We decided the state bird of Chincoteague was the mosquito so bring an outdoor fan and plenty of bug spray!
Overall it was a great trip.

18 people in the house and it never felt cramped. Plenty of room to hang out or get lost if you wanted. Views were tremendous and being directly on the water allowed for crabbing, fishing and other water activities. Keep the kids occupied and off their phones! Meals were great as dinner was prepared in house in the huge kitchen area and we all enjoyed the meals together. Elevator was a huge plus for some of the elderly guests. Would definitely recommend and stay there again.

We had a great time and enjoyed the amazing views. Plenty of things to do for everyone including crabbing, paddle boarding and swimming. Spacious house for all of us to enjoy.

We were searching for a place to celebrate my 80th birthday with our 18 kids and grandkids, and EUREKA!, here it was! The reviews were great and the description of the property seemed perfect for our needs...something to keep everyone happy, from the kayaks and canoe to puzzles and games.
The listing was completely accurate in every detail. We were glad to be able to make a quick trip a few months in advance to try to figure out the sleeping arrangements and have some idea as to what we might need to bring. Stephanie, who manages the property, was most generous with her time and very patient in answering our questions.
As each family group arrived, the oohs and aahs were proof of the rightness of our choice. The house is truly beautiful, with a gorgeous water view, as advertised, from every room. The living space is so vast and with so many decks and balconies that we often wandered lost just hunting for the stairs, but that vastness made it possible for the family hermits to be alone when they wanted to be and for the groupies to group! It was possible, too, on the night of the big birthday dinner, to arrange the tables and chairs on one deck so we could feast and celebrate together. (If anyone wants to know, my best birthday present was a Jayson Werth Garden Gnome!!!)
One of my concerns that was quickly laid to rest concerned what we might find in the kitchen. No worries...everything we needed for cooking was there. Both the owner and Stephanie were always available to quickly answer any questions we had.
We managed to enjoy seafood every night...and often for lunch also. We ate at Zack's right down the road, the Crab Shack...best of all, Bill's Seafood Restaurant (!!!), bought fish and shrimp at Gary Howard's, a few short blocks away. Among the other activities our family enjoyed: renting "bikes for 4", miniature golf, Wallops Visitor Center, The Creamery, a scenic nature cruise ("Daisey's") whose wonderful captain graciously took us right in front of Eureka!, an historical tour of Chincoteague on the little shuttle bus, and exploring the house's large and varied library (definitely not the typical beach reads).
I must not forget to mention the beach at Assateague. It does tend to be crowded, but we found the best time to go and have only a few fishermen as our companions was early morning around 7am. There are picnic tables and grills available and it's easy to stake out a space. Even better, come at 6am and watch the sun rise over the ocean.
